Talking about Bill Harrison....I just got this via email. It said it is from "Fremont Police Association" and it shows a letter from their Officer Greg Pipp, President and Sergeant Daniel, Vice President. Anyone else got this?

Why NUMMI Preferences Survey is a Sham

When I found out about the NUMMI preferences survey organized by the City, I immediately posted a discussion here and put the link to the survey. But upon closer review, I think this Survey is not going to yield reliable results. Here is why I think so:I can take the survey as many times as I want. Is it possible to stuff the survey responses according to the outcome the survey organizers want? Absolutely. Do I know if they are doing that? I have no idea. The survey does not capture who is…See More

Fremont Author Doug Tinney's book on Lake Elizabeth

Posted on March 2, 2009 at 11:00pm 0 Comments

Did you know that Lake Elizabeth is going to be 40 years old?! I did not, until I came across Doug Tinney's book on the Lake.

I finally got my hands on Doug's book and recommend it to anyone who wants to know the history and background of this landmark in Fremont. Doug is a long time passionate Fremont resident and an author, photographer, and graphic designer.

Doug was also the creator of the ballpark slide show published on the FCN website (see… Continue

Thank You All & Keep Up The Good Work!

Dear Fellow Citizens,

We are writing to express our humble appreciation for your concerted voice of resistance to the stadium proposal. This time, you have successfully warded off the developers. The way we, as a community, came to rally together and hold our local government officials accountable is simply amazing. All this time, we focused on facts, studies, and research. We believe that we have been pragmatic and objective in our opposition. We have won.

Unfortunately, the… Continue

A Response to Mr. Dominic Dutra's article in the Argus

Posted on January 29, 2009 at 10:00am 3 Comments

In "My Word: Dominic D. Dutra- A's ballpark offers fantastic opportunity to plan for Fremont's future" in the Argus yesterday, Mr. Dutra makes several suggestions and makes this final comment:

In light of the frightful things we're seeing with the current state budget impasse and the all-too-evident risks to cities like Fremont, this is an advantage that cannot be disregarded.

Let me know if you need to get inn touch with me, plz drop me

we're not going to get them back. There's no land. I hope someone is going to respond to the letter to the editor in the Argus on 1-29??? (written by Dominic Dutra- past city council member and land developer responsible for the strip mall on Warm Springs Blvd., the center on the SOuthwest side and the current strip mall at the base of Ohlone on Mission Blvd. among many, many others). His letter, if u missed it needs to have a response from the group. It's biased and incomplete.

No, but I felt since you started the FCN (I think) I wanted to give you a little feedback. I don't want everyone to read what I have to say so first I would like to ask will this only be viewed by you?

As so I. Having lived in Fremont for a long time, I can remember when Warm Springs had a golf course, a driving range, a racetrack, a glider port, a winery, and a fabulous park at the base of Mission Peak. All has been replaced with housing and roads and offices. Change comes... But it has been expensive to this part of Fremont. A stadium is, most certainly, not the answer to regaining the quality of life that has been lost... it is time to end the drain of quality of life issues for Warm Springs. Past time.

I am so pleased to see some organization in this matter. Thank you.

Hello Deepak,

As I am in the midst of catching up with the posts from this week, I would like to just add a few thoughts:
1. We have good reasons to be optimistic - thanks to the collective talents, determination and cohesiveness of this group - and your leadership style as well - so thank you for being so pivotal to our success.
2. I think we should consider a "neutral" type survey that can be distributed to any citizen, no matter where they stand on the A's coming to Fremont issue.

Thanks again,
Janet FitzGerald-Freund

Hi Deepak,

I was trying to find out how this works. The comments I sent you here was not intended for public view. Hope you could get rid of the posting once received the message.

Also, the donation could be for specific purpose, like today, we have No A's in Fremont, tomorrow, we may need to fight for No B's in Fremont, :) The donors could decide what cause they want to support???

Just another two cents....

Thanks again!

Hi Deepak,

Thanks so much for the wonderful website. It's very impressive!

A few thoughts:
1. Not sure if we could make the critical issues we are tackling on the first page in the future when we are ready to let everyone join? Too many choices and options may distract people and dilute our focus, maybe?

2. The donation part, we can probably use the method that the 'Second Harvest Bank' is using. Residents can write a check payable to whom and send to what address, etc. Or, use credit card (if this is useful, we probably will need to get a credit card machine ...) Or use their Paypal. I think most people will want to donate with checks, they will keep a copy themselves, just in case.

3. The fund management: transparent, we will assign a number to each donor if he/she doesn't want her name mentioned and list the amount and date received on the book, and each payment made (legal fees, etc.) will also be registered on the book and it's open for all member review. We should let everyone know ahead and let them know how to review, so that people know what the organization spend their money for, it's important.

4. I will try and see (if the lawyer doesn't want us use their office address) if another friend of mine who has a travel agency office by the Grimmer could let us use her office address for a fee (like $500 a year), so we can also do the meeting in their office on weekends... if anyone of us who knows the business as such would let us use their address, we can try. (If we receive mails, etc. at the location, this friend of mine can call me and I will go get the mails...no problem.)

5. Donate money part, I think I saw a section where you can send money overseas, that's probably Paypal's business, right? If that's the case, we want to pop a page prior link the user to Paypal that they are leaving the FCN website... so that the liability shifts....

I will continue surf our FCN website and stay in contact....

Thanks so much to you and your wife!!!!!

Yolanda
