Volunteer Needed to create Presentation on Disadvantages of Stadium

Hello Everyone,
I was thinking if anyone would be interested in helping me develop presentation/data/facts that we can you use to educated the Fremont residences on the disadvantages of having a stadium in Fremont. We can certainly come up with financial/statical/factual analysis which would show the cumulative damaging effect of having the stadium. In addition, we can fight the city council crooks in a meaningful manner. Please let me know you thoughts.

I'll help. I have to warn you however, I only support actual facts, not the typical FCN facpinions.
Michael says - "I only support actual facts..."

WHere - - - - state any I N D E P E N D A N T source of F A C T S Michael .

WHERE ?????? - you and your ilk have offered N O T H I N G of substance !!!!!!

YOU HAVE NOTHING BUT OPINION biased by your selfish desire to pedal a few meals to stadium goers or a couple of cars to A's execs'. You fan the flames of personal concern for jobs with your promise of work - - - - for part-time jobs for a few folks for a few days a year . . . . .

These aren't "JOBS" - - - - "Jobs" at the stadium are little more than a "hobby"

What independant F A C T S can you site ?????

NONE !

OPINION and EMOTIONAL RHETORIC. . . . is ALL that the pro-stadium faction offer.

(Oh - that's right - - there'll be a city-authored Economic impact analysis written soon - -- - it's writings will be overseen by the same "management" that can't even project tax revenues 4 months into the future - - - - - - - much less forecast the economic impact of a prospective stadium 10 years from now !!!!!!!)
We need rules to regulate people replying post.

I don't see the point of Michael's reply in this thread.
My point of view he is just trying to ruin every thread and the forum as much as possible.
I hope management can do something about it.
You nailed it, Calvin. That's the chance we take when we leave our door open to all comers - the people who show up can be sane and thoughtful or they can be tin-foil hat wearing losers (and I'm speaking in generalities here; not about any specific poster).

Although it pains me a bit to say so, I think we do benefit in a way from negative posters. They sharpen our arguments. They teach us patience. They help us prepare our information (as is the purpose of this discussion) in a clear and comprehensive way. Through their arguments we come to know the hand that is being held by the opposing side of an issue and what cards they may choose to play. Sometimes their arguments are so offensive that they themselves become an advertisement for our point of view. So, you see, we need the pests; in the long-term they can have a positive effect on the ecosystem.

That being said, I've always thought that we do need to maintain certain baseline standards to keep the site clean, safe and local. If you read the site for a while, you may come to know who's who and you might do what I do - just skip the comments by certain posters.
How can you expect to build a community when the opinions of others aren't even respected? When I was giving the boot for not being a current Fremont resident - I left without "Site Management" putting an end to me. Since then, I registered a new account with my new address and I was approved. Still, the first comments have been to kick me off yet again. I find it odd, that I'm the one defending Michael because he's the one I've always bumped heads with on these forums, but what was so bad about his post? He offered to help if actual facts are presented in the presentation.

If Michael is wrong - then prove him wrong or just ignore him and me for that matter. My opinion comes from sound economics not news articles or tv news channels.

The slides FCN already has are so informative and they speak it all ! Thank you FCN for doing all these ! Though they are from last year, the disadvantages of having a stadium in Fremont remain PLUS this time, it is even worse. The city proposes TO BUY THE LAND with tax-payers' money to lure the A's to come back. I don't see any benefit it will bring to our city. It just doesn't make sense at all !
Richard,

Through his reply, Michael is not helping, he is just trying to play smart and sarcasm.
His reply is not helping, is not a constructive reply.
Saying that "He offered to help if actual facts are presented in the presentation" is just lying to yourself. He is not gonna help Zidane, because he only believes that he choose to believe.

We need different opinion, doesn't mean that we need a person keep attacking other people and all the topics. There is a difference. I think he is over the line on this one.
Calvin,

calvin why don't you let people talk and have an open mind. you accuse him of being closed minded but you act that way too. how can you be so right about this with no studies or anything done??

let opinions be heard and stop trying to censor... if you would answer some question asked of you maybe your point might be better made to all

Fair Enough. In the presentation would it be possible to offer alternatives to the stadium deal? Perhaps a look at what the easing of some regulation and taxes could do to raise businesses (big and small) in Fremont.

Prudent decision must be based on fact, period.

I don't understand why some people adamantly support this project, when the city manager, Fred Diaz, said it himself that the stadium project is based on many ASSUMPTIONS.

I validated the information presented at this site by following the sources. Overall, they are relatively credible. It does not look good for the community.

I also viewed the information presented by the city. There are quite a bit of ASSUMPTIONS made for this project to work and make sense for the community. What if it doesn't pan out? Are we Fremont citizens suppose to be left holding the bag? Besides the testimonial of the consultant, which clearly is a proponent of the stadium project, I'm unable to validate or do the "fact check" on why the stadium is good for our community. Additionally, many of those who will benefit DO NOT live in our community, including the owner of the stadium.

I am wary when the project is back by the government to support large businesses, given the history of cost overrun. Oakland taxpayers are still paying for the A's subsidies directly and indirectly. Another large project that came into my mind is the new bay bridge, which was orginally budgeted for $800, but now costing well above $6 billion.

I'm tired of paying more taxes, especially if we have to subsidize big businesses.

Having voters vote on a project based on ASSUMPTIONS and rhetorics, support by few who benefit financially, enjoy only by those who want the "nice to have" entertainment venue, while most of the citizens are left with less services and potentially holding the bag in long run, is just NOT prudent.

Based on current information available to the public, I think this project smell fishy.
Alex,

Thank you for your support!
