If you look at all the blog sites currently in the web, the author of a blog post/discussion DO have the right to close a discussion. Some can also remove inappropriate or irreverent comments. Most author will try not to intervene unless it's necessary.

Since FCN forum is not moderated now, you can always start your own new discussion thread.

That's a good question, Fremonter. Will all questions remain open forever ? I'll give a more extreme example--If I were the one who started the discussion, after a long time, maybe hundreds of comments had been posted, and years past, the topic was no longer an issue, do you think I would go about to ask everyone if I could close the topic ? Honestly, I will just leave the topic open out there, forever ?

I guess I don't see why someone enters something into the public forum of discussion and then closes it. What is the purpose of not allowing people to continue the discussion? What is gained by this?
