Forming Education Committee

The Fremont Unified School District is huge. It has more than 30,000 students, more than 40 sites, and about 3,000 employees.

While students and parents mainly experience our school district in terms of schools rather than the entire school district, the range of school district issues that can impact schools and our children's education include finance, equity, technology, health, safety and many others.

As the current FUSD budget crisis demonstrated, it would be a good idea to understand and track all the critical decisions at the school district and Board level.

I am wondering if members are interested in the idea of forming an Education Committee to begin research, participate and actively follow up on critical FUSD issues with some coordinated efforts.

There is no bargaining unit representing students, parents and community members. Together, perhaps we can provide a better informed voice for students, parents and community members. Please let me know your thoughts.
